The Madras Hotels Association was formed during 1920 to represent the grievances of Hoteliers regarding supply of Water, Arbitrary and Exorbidant Licence fees and curtailment of food Grains etc. Mr. Sharma of Arya Bhavan and other leading Hoteliers formed this Association for the survival of Hotels & Restaurants to serve the public a wholesome food.
Mr.Rangasamy Iyengar, a talented editor of Swadesamithran News Paper has extended his help to focus our problems. This Association gradually enrolled its members in and around Madras and took efforts for the survivalance of Hotels and Restaurants. The Association registered under Society Act. During 1939 by submitting the objects of the Association and Rules & Regulations as framed at the Meeting held on 26th December 1938 and approved the same and adopted at the General Body Meeting held on 21-01-1939.
The Silver Jubilee of the Madras Hotels Association was celebrated on 15 and 16th of October 1970 at Abbotsbury Kalyana Mandapam, Chennai. Hon'ble Kalaignar Mr.Karunanidhi, Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Honoured by Inagurating the Function. The Golden Jubilee of Chennai Hotel Association was celebrated on 30-06-1990 at Music Academy, Chennai. Hon'ble Dr.Kalaignar Karunanidhi Honoured by participating as Chief Guest. |
